ESEAL HIGH-PERFORMANCE LINER RESTORES WELLBORE INTEGRITY IN THE EAGLEFORD BASIN
CHALLENGE
An Operator in the Eagle Ford Basin had four wells in the same pad with approximately 4,000 feet of compromised casing connections that would need repair to begin the planned frac operation. The conventional solution was to run and cement conventional 4 in. casing which would compromise the quality of fracking operations due to lower pump rates and would highly increase the cost of operations. The Operator needed a solution that would realign the compromised connection intervals and restore integrity to the well while providing the maximum internal diameter possible to perform the frac operation as planned.
Solution and Results After carefully reviewing the detailed technical package and comparing all options including similar expandable technology, the Operator decided to run 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 in. ESeal HP Liners in each well to cover the ~4,000 ft intervals. The ESeal HP Liners were run from ~1,700 ft to ~6,000 ft depth in each well, realigning the compromised connection intervals. All four liners were pressure tested to 9,700 psi after expansion and the liner shoes were milled out. The post-expanded ID of the high-performance liners and enhanced connection design will enable the Operator to perform the frac operations with the planned pump rates.
